Yes. It works like a normal calculator.
A vault that looks like a calculator
Pro Included with VaultCube Pro
Short answer
With VaultCube Pro you can change the icon. With the Calculator disguise, the app opens as a calculator that really works. Typing your secret 4–8-digit code followed by = opens the pattern screen. With the Notes disguise, it opens as a notes app; a long press on the title opens the pattern screen.
Why disguise it
A vault app on your Home Screen invites the question "what's in there?" A calculator doesn't.
How it works
- Settings › App settings › App icon. Pick one of 7 icons: Calculator, Notes, Weather, Timer, Compass, Units or Scanner. Calculator and Notes also open as a working disguise. The others change only the icon; the app still opens to your pattern.
- Calculator: set your own 4–8-digit code. Only a salt and a PBKDF2 hash of it are kept, in this iPhone's Keychain. There is no way past the calculator without the code.
- Notes: the app opens as a real, simple notes app (a decoy, not encrypted). Long-press the "Notes" title to reach the vault.
- Going back to the original icon is always free.
What it doesn't hide
- The app's name under the icon stays "Vault Cube". iOS lets apps change their icon but not their name. Tip: put it in a folder.
- Settings, Screen Time and the App Store still list VaultCube.
- A forgotten calculator code can't be bypassed. Write it down with your recovery phrase.
Questions
Is the calculator real?
Do I still need my pattern?
Yes. The code opens the unlock screen; your pattern opens the vault. Two locks.
