No. They go only into the vault, and into your encrypted backup if it's on.
Take the photo where it's going to stay
Short answer
VaultCube has its own camera. Photos are encrypted the moment you take them and never touch your camera roll. Videos are encrypted as soon as you stop recording; until then, the recording is a protected temporary file.
Why it matters
A photo you take with the normal Camera app lands in Photos. From there it shows up in Memories, widgets, iCloud Photos, shared libraries, and any app you've given photo access. Moving it into a vault afterwards leaves a window, and often a copy in Recently Deleted for 30 days.
What the camera does
- Back and front cameras, including the real ultra-wide (.5) lens where your iPhone has one
- Flash, tap to focus and expose
- Video with sound, if you allow the microphone
- Photos are captured into memory and encrypted straight into the open vault
The fine print, exactly
- Photos: never written to storage unencrypted.
- Videos: iOS can only record video to a file. While you record, that file sits in a protected temporary folder, readable only while the phone is unlocked. It's encrypted the moment you stop, and the readable file is deleted. If the app closes mid-recording, the leftover is cleared the next time VaultCube starts.
Questions
Do camera photos go to iCloud Photos?
Can I import existing photos too?
Yes, from Photos or Files. VaultCube can then delete the originals from Photos. iOS keeps deleted items in Recently Deleted for 30 days, and only you can empty it. The app reminds you.
